Eric, John's son, is visiting John and Caye at the school. John and Eric took a hired car to Kerala, on the west coast of India, last weekend to visit what is reputedly the largest elephant festival in the country. Different Hindu temples send contingents of elephants to the city of Trissure for ceremonies. The temples vie for who can outfit their elephants in the most elaborate garb.
