Tsunami memorial

We saw wild elephants, buffalo, etc. at the Yala National Park on the south coast of Sri Lanka. On the beach we saw this monument, which marked the spot where 47 tourists and park people were swept away by the tsunami of Dec. 2004. We went through a nearby town, not that big a place, where 3,000 to 4,000 people were killed.
