Buddist collection in Desert

Driving north through flat farmland about two hours out of Los Angeles on Highway 395 we saw a large statue far off to the right. We turned off on a dirt road for a closer look and found it was a giant standing Buddha carved from white stone. To our amazement, it was the centerpiece of a large Buddhist esplanade or outdoor temple, with a wide walkway flanked by two rows of large statues of what we assumed was Buddha in different poses. There were no signs, no admission, and no one around.
